Baby Keepsakes!
Last night as
I was breastfeeding Jack, he was playing with my hair as he fed. It's something he often does and is a little like a comfort blanket, I guess. As I watched him and enjoyed this gentle hair-pulling, I realised that this will all be a distant memory very soon. As will his responses to my questions as he feeds. If I ask him if he is finished yet he often shakes his head vigorously to let me know he is not! And when I ask him if it's nice, he nods yes! All done without letting go!
When he is not nursing and gets tired he plays with his own hair, twisting it around and around his little baby index finger! I love watching him do this as it is just so cute; his eyes glaze over and he draws himself into sleep!
Anyway, as I watched him, I was reminded of a company which sell the most beautiful breastfeeding necklaces and bracelets.
About a year ago, when I was starting up my website, BreastFeedingMums.com, I happened upon Rumina, a jewellery website run by two breastfeeding mothers, Gemma and Ruth. At the time, I requested a sample breastfeeding necklace as I was making up a list of companies to add to my site and I wanted to check the quality before recommending them.
When my necklace arrived, I was thrilled; both the quality and beauty were exceptional.
Made from semi-precious stones, Rumina offers a wide array of choice. You can either choose a ready-made design or design your own unique piece of jewellery. And importantly, as well as being something other than hair to play with, the necklaces are safe if your baby chews on them and they have a magnetic clasp so if baby grabs them they don't break.
People were always asking me where I got mine, and Jack really enjoyed playing with it as he breastfed. My daughters also loved it; they thought it was a magic necklace due to the lovely stones it was made from!
In our Breastfeeding Carnival last week we discussed gifts for Christmas and I really should have mentioned this then, but I reckoned it was better late than never!
So, as Christmas is approaching and it's nice to seek out unusual gifts for family, I thought one of Rumina's products would make an ideal gift, as it will become a lovely keepsake reminding mums, breastfeeding or not, of the precious time they had with their newborns.
*BTW, I am not an affiliate for Rumina, nor am I getting paid for this post. I just really love the products and thought I'd mention it here!!
