Well done, Tina Hobley! Aren't you a clever mummy?
The well-known actress recently stated in a magazine interview that she didn't breastfeed (and then contradicts herself!) before stating she would consider botox.
'I didn’t breastfeed – I did about three weeks mixed (Em, Tina, I think you'll find you did actually breastfeed then!) and then Olivia was bottle-fed – but that wasn’t because I was worried about having saggy boobs, I simply chose not to.'
Any educated woman knows breastfeeding DOES NOT cause saggy boobs. However, pregnancy does, so perhaps she shouldn't have bothered carrying her own baby either.
She's also not convinced about the health benefits of breastfeeding. (I wonder just how much research she did then...)
'I didn’t feel pressurised into doing it for the health benefits because I am not fully convinced of that argument.'
Perhaps she should start reading a few books instead of scripts and she'll maybe discover that the health benefits of breastfeeding aren't just bandied about by pro-breastfeeding women but by scientists who've researched and documented their findings!
Tina then tells us all that she will possibly consider botox in the future. Happy to inject poison into her skin to maintain her looks, it appears her baby's health comes second to her own vanity. I wonder if she's researched botox - after all, when her appearance is on the line perhaps it will be more important to her to check out all the pros and cons.
Okay, so I'm ranting a bit - but it's not personal. I actually like Ms Hobley on screen. I like the characters she plays and she plays them well, but what I don't like is seeing so-called personalities such as Tina Hobley making statements about something so important as breastfeeding just to be controversial. Not only is she getting her facts terribly wrong, but she is negatively influencing her fan base and doing them and their future babies a terrible injustice.
Yes, Tina, it was your choice not to breastfeed, but please don't try to justify your decision by putting down the people who have spent years discovering just how good breastfeeding is for mothers and babies.
Admit the real reason you didn't breastfeed beyond three weeks.
You didn't want to because you just weren't that interested in doing what is best for your own and your baby's health. You'd much rather a great big dose of botox any day because, let's face it, we're all convinced of the benefits of that, aren't we?
