Okay, so I don't like using my blog to post negative reviews about products but this is one I really have to post about because I am incredibly angry about how I've been treated by the company, MyTickerScript.com.
Here's the story. As you know I'm a work at home mum as are many of my blog, forum and website visitors. A week or so ago as I was trying to come up with ways of attracting more traffic to my website I thought to myself, hey, why don't I get one of those scripts that create a ticker that people can use in their forum and siggies. So I started hunting around and found MyTickerScript.com.
From trying out the test product on their site I was pretty pleased and went ahead and paid $80.00 for their pro version.
And that's where the trouble started.
My husband is a software engineer so he was able to install it for me but when I began testing it I realised there was a problem with the pregnancy ticker. Now given that the majority of my sites visitors are either mothers-to-be or breastfeeding mothers this was not good. So I went back to their site and searched their forums only to find lots of people had the same problem. However, there was a patch available (you'd think they would have fixed the original before selling it, wouldn't you?) and so I got hubby to upload it to the site.
Okay, that seemed to work. However, there was another problem. The script wouldn't upload photos to the ticker. As my visitors tend to place some importance on this aspect and as this feature was one that really attracted me to my purchase I wasn't too happy about it not working. Again I went back to the forums and found to my dismay there were several other unhappy customers complaining about the same thing and there didn't seem to be any resolution. They were basically being ignored.
I got hubby to thoroughly check he'd uploaded everything correctly. He had. There was nothing else for it but to get in touch. So I wrote up a detailed post explaining what was wrong and I quickly receievd a response from a lady named DaisyBoo. Although she couldn't help she suggested I PM IceBreaker as he apparently deals with scripting problems.
I did as she suggested two days ago. I got a helpful suggestion from another forum member but it wasn't a solution. IceBreaker didn't reply.
By this morning I was starting to feel extremely irritated that I hadn't even received an acknowledgement, never mind a solution to the problem. So I put a message on the forum explaining that if I didn't get a satisfactory answer I would no option but to contact my credit card company and post negative reviews about their product on my blog, forum and website, letting them know that between the three sites I receive almost 100,000 unique visitors a month. I hoped I'd get an explanation, apology, something.
What I got was a deleted thread on the forum.
Yes, they actually deleted my complaint. Can you believe that?
Customer Service at My TickerScript.com = Non Existent.
So, I'm sticking to my word. I'm posting my complaint on all three sites and I feel justified in saying the product doesn't live up to my expectations. And it won't live up to yours either if you want to allow your site visitors the option of uploading photos to their tickers.
If you're looking to buy a ticker script in order to promote your website, I suggest you avoid purchasing MyTickerScript, unless you want a product that fails to do what it promises.
I'll keep you posted about any further developments but somehow I don't think they'll care enough to help... time will tell. I must go and make that phone call to my credit card company now.
UPDATE
After contacting Paypal I've been informed I will get a full refund within the next five days. I still haven't had any personal explanations or feedback and I didn't set out to get a refund; I just wanted my script to work. Anyway, at least they've had the decency to give me back the full cost of the product. So I'm not so cross anymore but it would have been good of them to get in touch just to explain things as I'm still no wiser as to why the product doesn't work as it should on my website.
