Doctor’s Choice Kelo-cote® Now Available For Every Day Scar Treatment
The effectiveness and safety of silicone gel in the treatment and prevention of scars is well documented[1]. Studies have shown that Doctors’ choice Kelo-cote® in particular should be introduced as part of your daily routine to improve scars, old and new, whether as a result of surgery, a burn or an accident.
On the market for several years as a first choice for Doctors and Surgeons when treating and managing scars and burns, Kelo-cote® is the only clinically proven option chosen by health care professionals. Now available over-the-counter in pharmacies and on the web, the brand is broadening its reach to anyone who has a scar or burn mark, who doesn’t need to visit their doctor or hospital and who wants to self treat and reduce and, preferably, improve the appearance of the scar.
Silicone is the clinical gold standard for scar treatment and scar prevention and has regularly demonstrated its superiority to all other forms of topical treatment. Kelo-cote® is an innovative patented silicone gel which softens, flattens and smoothes scars, reduces redness and relieves the itching and discomfort associated with scars. It is clinically proven to improve and reduce the appearance of all scars, whether old or new, therefore helping to restore confidence and self-esteem.
Kelo-cote® is safe for use on all kinds of skin, including sensitive skin as well as children and can be applied under cosmetics or sunscreen without any aesthetic issues – it is self-drying, which means that, unlike other products, it leaves no residue while it does its work, leaving the user comfortable with applying make-up or creams, knowing they will stay in place.
World-renowned plastic, reconstructive and burns Surgeon Mohammad Jawad is a fan of Kelo-cote®. He says: “I have been using Kelo-cote® for many years and find it very helpful in the management of scars, whether serious or relatively minor. My most famous patient Katie Piper, who was attacked with sulphuric acid two years ago, has been a unique case in reconstructive burns surgery. She continues to improve as time goes on, but Kelo-cote® has been a constant factor during her treatment and indeed was so right from the start. While Katie is admittedly at the most serious end of the scar management spectrum, I have no reservation in recommending Kelo-cote® to anyone who has a scar, whether caused by surgery, including Caesarean sections, a burn or an accident.”

How to Use Kelo-cote®
Ensure that the affected area is clean and dry
Apply Kelo-cote® to the area as a very thin layer and allow to dry
Apply twice daily and for maximum effect, ensure 24 hour contact with the skin - it forms a waterproof, transparent, gas permeable membrane that acts like a second skin
If Kelo-cote® has not dried within 4-5 minutes, you have probably used too much – gently remove the excess and allow the drying process to continue.
Recommended treatment time is 60-90 days: a 15g tube of Kelo-cote® gel should last up to 90 days for treatment of a scar size 7.5-10cm
