It's hard to believe Summer is over and we're now into the Autumn term at school. Although a few decent days of sunshine probably lie ahead, from now on the evenings will be getting darker earlier and we'll all begin to think back to the bright summer evenings that we've left behind.
This summer was actually a lovely one for us. Although there were quite a few rainy days, which we're pretty used to in Northern Ireland, we made the most of any good days that came our way by packing our bags and getting out of the house as much as possible.
One of my very favourite days out this summer was just a few weeks ago when we took a picnic to the beach. We found a fairly secluded area, unpacked our flask, sandwiches and cool drinks for the children and sat back, enjoying the view as the children built sand-castles and paddled in the water.
On another occasion we went treasure hunting at a local mineral quarry, again with a picnic I'd prepared earlier! Both occasions were free days out, apart from the cost of the food.
However, although our picnics were both very enjoyable, as a mum who does the lion's share of meal-planning all week long, I just don't always feel like preparing a picnic! For me, getting away from home early knowing we're going to choose a restaurant to eat in later is often much more appealing and we all know that both parents and children alike usually enjoy the thought of a lovely juicy pizza after a hard day having fun!
So I was delighted to learn that Pizza Hut have extended their summer time Kids Eat Free deal until January 9 2011.
For every adult main course or adult lunchtime buffet purchased, an accompanying child can choose from either a FREE 2 course kids meal (includes a drink) or a FREE kids lunchtime buffet (includes pizza, pasta and salad).

In addition to the Kids Eat Free meal deal, if you check the bottom of any Pizza Hut receipt you'll see an offer code. If you enter this code at http://www.pizzahut.co.uk/familyadventures you'll find some great deals on a wide range of family activities and adventures including holidays, theme parks, zoos and more family activities and adventures including holidays, theme parks, zoos and more.
All in all, it seems to me that the team at Pizza Hut have come up trumps for us hard-working mums and dads! And, now that I know what they've got on offer, I think I know what I'll be planning this weekend - and it certainly won't be a picnic!
