It's hard to believe that it's almost Christmas once again and that ready or not we'll all be procrastinating about what to buy for whom over the next few weeks! Actually, I'm doing pretty well this year and have almost all my presents either bought or ordered so I must admit to feeling a lot less stressed than I normally would by this point in time!
With Christmas just around the corner, I'm noticing even the early mornings are starting to feel quite magical right now. Looking out this morning at 7am there was a lovely clear dark blue sky with a few stars sparkling and lots of glittering frost gathered on the grass and car windows! For me, this is when the build up really begins.
Of course, this year many people are feeling the financial bite more acutely than in recent years and we're all cutting back in one way or another. Christmas is always notoriously expensive and most of us get caught up in the atmosphere leading to overspending and then the worry about what it was that was so important to purchase that it ate into January's pay-cheque!
At the moment, I'm doing my very best to shop around and to pick up bargains when and where I can in the hope that I'll avoid a bleak new year bank balance!
Today, I decided to head into town to pick up some presents for my children after one of their aunts and one of their grandmothers gave me some money for them for Christmas and told me to pick some nice clothes for them. With four children, this is something I don't do very often as I'm not a big one for clothes shopping anyway and tend to do what a lot of parents with children do, ie, pass the clothes on from one child to the next. This works great with my three daughters, though not so well with my son!
Anyway, it was good to have both the money and the excuse to clothes shop and I got them all some lovely, reasonably priced clothes that will hopefully see them through Christmas and well into the new year. I also found myself in a new card shop that has just opened recently and was thrilled to find some very nice cards and wrapping paper that were much cheaper than I'd usually end up paying. I even managed to get bargain priced charity cards so felt I was doing a little bit to help the Macmillan cancer charity! On the downside though, when I got back to my car I realised I'd lost one of the rolls of wrapping paper I'd bought. However, I didn't really mind and just hoped some nice person had found it and would benefit from it :)
If you're struggling to think of gifts for loved ones, keep an eye for my upcoming product reviews over the next few weeks. I've been offered some interesting items to review and will be looking forward to helping you all out with some buying decisions!
