Looking After Yourself During the Holidays: 7 Tips for Breastfeeding Mothers
Looking after yourself as a breastfeeding mother during the holiday season is no mean feat. What with all the house decorations, food preparations and gift-buying, it can be hard to find the time to sneeze, never mind anything else.

Welcome to the November Carnival of Breastfeeding. This month we're looking at breastfeeding experiences in hospital so make sure to check out all the other posts listed below.
I know when I was breastfeeding my first baby I was woefully unprepared for what lay ahead. However, as I stayed for three nights I had plenty of opportunities to ask for help. However, this is not always the case and many mothers now leave hospital within just a few hours of their baby's birth meaning ongoing breastfeeding problems can be disastrous and lead to mothers quitting prematurely.

Here's mine:
15 Breastfeeding Facts I Wish I'd Known as a First Time Breastfeeding Mum

- I wish I'd known just how much satisfaction I would feel from being able to instantaneously sate my baby's hunger.

Join the August Carnival of Breastfeeding!
The August Carnival of Breastfeeding will be based on the La Leche League's World Breastfeeding Week theme: Prepared for Life.
"This year we focus on supporting women in their efforts to do what is most important for the health and survival of their children even during emergency situations.
- Being able to continue breastfeeding even during an emergency can bring comfort and a sense of normalcy even in the most stressful situations.
- Breastfeeding can continue even when an emergency interferes with the family’s established food supply. Situations that would otherwise be devastating for families that rely on sufficient funds for and access to formula, sanitation for feeding supplies, and refrigeration are no cause for alarm when the established food supply for the baby is mother’s milk.
- A breastfed baby is better prepared to deal with health challenges, avoiding some medical emergencies."
Have you a story to share that fits the bill above? Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were thankful your baby was being breastfed because otherwise her life may have been compromised? For example, during a natural catastrophe when fresh water was hard to access, in a breakdown when no help was immediately available, during a severe illness when your baby needed all the help he could get, after the birth of your preemie who required breastmilk to save her life? If so, we'd love to hear it.

Welcome to the Carnival of Breastfeeding! Nursing in public is this month's theme and there have been absolutely loads of contributors for this one! They're all listed below and will be updated throughout the day as they become available. Without further ado, here's mine:
Nursing in Public - What's a Breastfeeding Mother to Do!
Nursing in Public... oh just the very the thought of it filled me with dread.
What if someone was offended and made a big scene? What if some school kids started giggling and pointing at me? What if I caused someone other than myself to get dreadfully embarrassed? What if my baby was making a great big fuss and I started leaking all over the place? What if I just couldn't do it?
So many what ifs, so much to worry about and no idea what to do about it all.

Welcome to the May Carnival of Breastfeeding. It's personal stories this month and we have some beautiful stories to share. They'll be added as they become available so remember to check throughout the day!
Breastfeeding made me the mother I am
Along time ago, when I was a girl, breastfeeding didn't mean all that much to me. It was simply something some mothers did. I thought it was a lovely thing to see but I thought about much.
These days I look back and see that breastfeeding has played a life-changing role in my life.
From the moments after the birth of my first daughter nine years ago when she attempted her first sleepy latch, to the end of my time as a breastfeeding mother just 20 months ago, I can honestly say breastfeeding is one of a handful of decisions I have taken on my life's journey that I have never once regretted.
